Principal’s Message

Dear Friends,

Welcome to John E. Joy School!
John E. Joy is a K-6 elementary school that houses approximately 350 students.  Our school is named after a well-loved former principal, Mr. John E. Joy.  The school is located near Route 26 (Turin Road) on Bielby Road.  Thus, we proudly call ourselves, the “Turin Road Tigers”!

Our School Community (The students, staff and parents at John E. Joy School) enjoys getting off to a “Roaring Good Start” each year.  Students are encouraged to strive to do their personal best, listen to learn and to be respectful, responsible and resourceful.  All of the adults work together to help our children learn and to foster in our children a life-long love of learning.  We strive to have each and every child at Joy School achieve academically and to become independent, life-long learners.  We appreciate all of the help we receive from our friends and families as we work together to achieve this goal.

At Joy School, our Positive School Climate Committee functions like a student council.  The students are given the opportunity to participate in making decisions, planning events and facilitating experiences that will improve the climate of the school.

At Joy School teamwork is everything.  Working together leads to the best outcomes.  We invite you to be an active partner in your child’s education.  Joy School is fortunate to have a Parent Teacher Group (P.T.G.) that works together to provide our “Turin Road Tigers” with many fun and educational experiences and invites.  Join the P.T.G., volunteer in a classroom, help us in our garden or participate in some of our special events.

I welcome any comments or suggestions and encourage all parents to get involved in their child’s education.  If I can be of any assistance please feel free to call me at (315) 334-1260.  I look forward to sharing a wonderful school year with you.  I consider it an honor to be a part of your child’s educational experience.
